Letter to the Editor: Endorsements for McBride OK with me

I was raised in Norwich and have lived in Norwich most of my 52 years. I support Joe McBride for County Judge because he is most qualified for the job.

I am writing because I believe David Wern’s letter to the editor on September 3rd was misleading and irrelevant. I find it that way for the following reasons:

1). He took a lot of words to say the McBride campaign is using “old school” tactics by receiving endorsements. I am not sure how that’s old school, but trying to find faults in an opponents campaign as opposed to finding the strengths in your candidate is certainly “old school.” I think old school vs. new school is irrelevant and all candidates are using tactics that can fit in each category: a) OLD: lawn signs, letters to the editor, b) NEW: web sites and social media.

2). He says the McBride “campaign team is being led behind the scenes by the most well known old school boy in Chenango County, who brags of his 38 years of service.” David Wern demeans himself by exaggerating and mentioning “Chicago politics.” The campaign is being led by Joe McBride and Lou Callea, campaign manager. I have known Lou since 7th grade and Joe since the 1990’s. I will put them both up against any two people you can find in Chenango County for having the most integrity. And, as Mr. Wern points out, integrity is the most important characteristic of any Judge.

In short, Joe will judge with integrity and he will remain impartial and fair. I would stake my life on it. His experience is well documented and I won’t repeat it here. Lastly, I support Joe because I plan for my family to be in Chenango County for many years to come and this is an important election.
