Greene 3, Edmeston 0

GREENE - Defending Midstate Athletic Conference champion, Greene, got off on the right foot Thursday shutting out Edmeston in a non-league matchup Thursday.

Freshman Luke Day had a pair of first-half goals scoring off a Karl Zaengle cross 6:17 into the game, and then providing a two-goal cushion before halftime 23 minutes later. Kurt Bartholomew put away a penalty kick in the second half to complete the Trojans’ scoring.

“I felt we possessed the ball well and took advantage of a couple opportunities to score,” said Greene coach Rick Tallman. “We missed some opportunities, too, but right now we’re trying to get some things flowing. I was impressed today with the defense of Cameron Race at sweeper and Brian Leone at outside back. They both did nice jobs.”
