The Place provides kids with a summer of safe fun

NORWICH – The Christian Neighborhood Center of Norwich, better known as The Place, is doing its part to provide kids with a safe and fun summer through its Summer Kids’ Program.

The program, which runs through Aug. 31, offers swimming at Kurt Beyer Pool, trips to the playground at Perry Browne Elementary School, and field trips to area attractions. Since the program began in June, participants have visited Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo in Rome and Filmore Glen State Park at Cayuga Lake. The group is currently planning an end of the summer trip to Dorney Park in Allentown, Pa.

The Place, located behind the Norwich Post Office, is serving 75 children ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade who are enrolled in this year’s summer program.

“We really hoped to give the kids an opportunity to do things that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to do,” program leader Paula Crawford said.
