Last Music In The Park This Week
Published: August 7th, 2012

SHERBURNE – The Sherburne Rotary Club brings the 23rd summer concert series in Gaines Park to a close Wednesday with the fifth and final concert – the Delaney Brothers. Concert will begin at 6 p.m. and end by 8:30. Food is available from the Rotary food booth. Bring your own chair or blanket and settle in for an evening of new traditional bluegrass.

Founded in 1981, two-time SAMMY (Syracuse Area Music Award) winners Delaney Brothers Bluegrass is one of central NY’s oldest and best-loved bluegrass bands. However, their music is more than just bluegrass - it’s influenced by many other acoustic traditions such as country, folk, gospel, and celtic. From the smooth, warm vocals of lead singer John and tight family harmonies with his older brother Ray and son Jonathan, to Nick’s smokin’ banjo (and fiddle!) playing, fans are treated to a musical experience that puts a smile on their faces and makes their toes tap. Sponsors for this concert include Manpower, Harmon’s Painting, and Floral Fantasy. Please thank the sponsors.

Bring your own chair or blanket. This is a project brought to you by Sherburne Rotary. Local businesses and individuals have supported the series financially and in donations of services or goods. The program booklet recognizes the contributors. Also in the program booklet there are a few questions to help Rotarians plan Music in the Park for next year. In case of inclement weather the concert location will be changed to Sherburne Firehouse or SE school auditorium. Signs will be posted. Money raised is used to fund local projects and causes. The 50/50 raffle at each concert is split between the winner that night and three local food pantries.
