Veterans Hit The Road For Specialized End Of Life Care
Published: July 31st, 2012

NORWICH – Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines for the First We Honor Veterans’ motorcycle ride to benefit Hospice. The money raised will be allocated to provide services to Veterans who reside in Chenango County and opt for Hospice care. For the past year Hospice of Chenango County staff has been educated about the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs that may be specific to Veterans as they approach their final days, weeks, or months of life. “We are now on a mission to learn how to serve Veterans through the challenges they may be facing from illness, isolation or traumatic life experience,” says agency Clinical Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator Kendall Drexler.

The We Honor Veterans’ ride was spearheaded by members of The American Legion Post 189 in Norwich, as well as The American Legion Riders. The event will take place on Saturday, August 11 and is open to any rider and passenger for a fee of $10 per person. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. at The Vet’s Home on County Route 32 in Oxford. A blessing of the bikes, and kick stands up will be at 11.
