Investigation continues into Wednesday afternoon accident

NORWICH – City Police are continuing to investigate a Wednesday afternoon car accident that sent two people to Chenango Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries and involved a total of five vehicles.

City police and fire personnel responded to the scene of the accident, which occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. and closed a portion of North Broad Street, north of Mitchell Street, for approximately two hours.

According to Police Chief Joseph Angelino, Lance Miner, 61, of Norwich, may have suffered a medical emergency which caused him to lose control of his southbound Ford pick-up truck. Authorities believe Miner’s truck struck three northbound vehicles, one of which struck a fifth car, travelling south. Miner’s truck then left the roadway, nearly crashing into the northwest corner of Fahy’s Funeral Home.
