Celtic music from the Old World and the new!

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Opera House is thrilled to present two first-rate ensembles of Celtic music from the Old World and the New this Saturday at 8 p.m. From the Old World (Ireland-Scotland) comes two world-class musicians pairing up to form the new duo of Claire Mann on flute, whistle, and fiddle, and Aaron Jones with lead vocals, bouzouki, and guitar. Runa based here in the New World (Philadelphia) claims musicians from around the globe and this vocal and instrumental ensemble gives its arrangements of traditional songs and tunes a fresh sound

Looking at the ensembles in more depth, Claire Mann is the Tabache flutist and fiddler gone solo. She is an all-Ireland winner on whistle and a finalist on fiddle. Aaron Jones, originally from the North of Ireland, is an innovative multi-instrumentalist on bouzouki, guitar and bass, as well as a fine singer. He won Best Instrumentalist of the Year award at the Scots Trad Music Awards 2005. He is best known as retired member of the Northern Irish band Craobh Rua and currently he is the lead vocalist for the award-winning Scottish band Old Blind Dogs.
