Jury Selection In Third Wlasiuk Trial To Begin June 4

NORWICH – The Honorable Joseph F. Cawley Jr. – acting Chenango County Court Judge in the case of twice-convicted murderer Peter M. Wlasiuk – presided over several pre-trial matters Wednesday as the District Attorney’s Office prepares to prosecute the one-time Town of Guilford man for a third time.

Wlasiuk, now 42, was first convicted of second degree murder – a class A-1 felony – in 2003, sentenced to serve 25 years to life in state prison. That conviction was overturned on appeal in 2006 due to errors regarding the admittance of prejudicial evidence. His second conviction, in 2008, saw Wlasiuk again sentenced to 25 years to life. In December of 2011, that conviction was overturned by the State of New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department.
