Norwich boys edged by Sus Valley

Evening Sun Report

Track and Field

CONKLIN – Susquehanna Valley’s boys swept the discus and dominated the 110-meter hurdles in an otherwise back-and-forth meet to edge Norwich, 71-70, Tuesday in cold, wet conditions. On the girls’ side, the Lady Sabers captured 12 out of 17 events to tame the Tornado, 88-53.

Norwich coach Shaun Horan said the Sus Valley boys had a welcomed addition to the lineup that was unexpected. “They had a kid who was in Russia and we didn’t expect to be there. He picked up some valuable points for them that we didn’t account for,” the NHS coach said. “We did have a lot of kids step up, it just came down to a few depth points that we missed out on.”
