Morrisville students offer helping hand to Roots & Wings

NORWICH – Students in Cynthia Riedi’s Psychology 101 class at the Morrisville State College Norwich Campus are taking on a project that extends a helping hand to Roots and Wings of Chenango County.

For the last month, Morrisville students Tanya DeLee, Tonya Mabe and Ruth Releah have put enormous amounts of effort into a service learning project required for Riedi’s course. The three have sought donations from individuals and businesses throughout the area to contribute to a raffle they are sponsoring inside Follett Hall, the proceeds from which will go directly to Roots and Wings to help with its mission of serving the most needy in the county.

“It is important that students understand the needs of their community, and how much one person can do to help better the lives of those less fortunate than themselves,” said Riedi.

In addition to selling raffle tickets, students are collecting non-perishable food items, infant formula and toiletries, which will also be donated to Roots and Wings. A food collection box has been established inside Follett Hall and another at Save-a-Lot in the South Plaza.
