NORWICH – Karen A. Sastri, Corporate Training Manager for NBT Bancorp in Norwich, has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors for United Way of New York State. United Way of New York State is a statewide membership organization dedicated to strengthening the capacity of local United Ways to be leaders in achieving results that improve the lives of all New Yorkers.

Sastri was nominated to the State Board by Chenango United Way where she also serves as chair of the Board of Directors. She has served on the local United Way Board of Directors since 2004 and was previously co-chair for Community Impact and co-chair of the Campaign.

She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Christian Neighborhood Center, a.k.a. “The Place” and is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management and the American Society for Training and Development.

A graduate of the University at Albany, Sastri holds a degree in Psychology and has received her Professional of Human Resources (PHR) certification. She resides in Norwich with her husband Shawn and their three children.
