Norwich cruises past Forks; S-E offense lacking in road loss

CHENANGO FORKS – Coupled with Susquehanna Valley’s loss to Oneonta Tuesday night, Norwich gained sole possession of first place in the STAC Central Division cruising to a victory over Chenango Forks Tuesday evening.

Norwich seniors Seth Thomsen and Dennis Oralls had 12 and 10 points respectively, and sophomore Michael Sutton contributed 11 points. The Tornado starters were subbed out liberally in the first half, and after the first four minutes of the third quarter, took a seat for the rest of the evening. “We were able to jump out to a big lead, which we wanted to do,” said Norwich coach Tom Collier. “We established some things with our press, mixing defenses, and working in guys that needed to play. We wanted to make sure we got a 20-point lead and play some more guys. Guys that haven’t played much this season got a lot of minutes tonight.”

Norwich led 34-15 at the half, and upped the advantage over 25 points midway through the third stanza. Twelve of the 13 NHS players that dressed found the scoring column.

Norwich plays at Susquehanna Valley Friday, and visits Johnson City next week. “Right now, the division title is within our grasp, but we need to win our next two games,” Collier said.
