Norwich slows S-E's momentum to win eighth straight dual

Norwich 51, Sherburne-Earlville 35

NORWICH – Norwich halted Sherburne-Earlville’s early momentum, and went on to win its eighth straight dual meet Friday afternoon in a non-league matchup of longtime Chenango County rivals.

Hunter Owen (99) pulled off a stunning victory early in what was the equivalent of a Hail Mary move. Down 14-1 late in the third period, the Marauders grappler reversed Norwich’s Cole Rifanburg, and earned the pin with 30 ticks left. Coupled with pinfall wins by Kevin Dunshee (113) and Spencer Franklin (120), S-E led 24-6

Tristan Rifanburg (126) began a string of wins for Norwich pinning Dustin Mosley. Frankie Garcia (138), Matt Thompson (152), and Tanner Cummings (160) also had pins with the only interruption a technical fall victory by the Marauders’ Jack Buell at 145 pounds.
