OXFORD – 6 On The Square (6OTS) is proud to present Cris Williamson at 4 p.m. Sunday. Chris is famed for launching, what would become known as “women’s music,” music which was created, performed, and marketed specifically to women and unabashedly fused politics with sensuality and wit. On a CD release tour, all the way from the West coast, 6OTS is thrilled to bring you this headliner in its intimate setting.

Decades before indie labels were the norm, and years before women had any real access to the industry, Cris Williamson was busy changing the face of popular music. In 1975, the twenty-something former school teacher released the recording, The Changer And The Changed, on Olivia Records, which became the soundtrack of a movement. Today, that record remains one of the best-selling independent releases of all time.

“The first time I heard Cris’ music, it was like hearing honey dripped on a cello ... Cris has been a whole lot of women’s heroes -- including mine.” - Bonnie Raitt
