Bua brings traditional Irish music to 6OTS

OXFORD – Saturday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m., award-winning traditional Irish music ensemble, Bua, will be performing at 6 On The Square (6OTS) as a fundraiser for PEO!  It’s no surprise that Bua, a quartet comprised of some of America’s most talented young musicians, has quickly risen to fame. This benefit concert, for the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), is sponsored by the Hansen Family.

Bua (boo-ah), from the Irish Gaelic word for victory, have evolved and matured since they were at 6OTS in 2009. Back then, their highly acclaimed CD, “An Spealadóir.” their first studio album, was just out. Now, with a new CD under their belt, Bua is Seán Gavin (from Detroit, MI) flute and uilleann pipes; Brian Miller (northern Minnesota) on guitar, bouzouki, and vocals; Brian Hart (from St. Louis, MO) singer/concertina player; and Devin Shepherd (from Chicago, IL) who plays fiddle. Although Gavin has family near County Clare in Ireland and Brian Hart, is fluent in Irish, they are totally American. Despite their US roots, as they tour North America and Europe they are receiving accolades for their spirited, traditional music of Ireland. They have been described by Irish Music Magazine as, “The essence of a superb band!” If you love traditional Irish music, played with energy and passion, this is an evening for you!
