COPES CORNERS – G-MU won its first game of the season Friday night scoring once in each overtime period to turn back Franklin.

Cousins Lauren Hill and Miranda Hill provided all of the scoring offense for G-MU during regulation. Lauren Hill had four goals, while Miranda Hill added one goal and three assists.

Franklin scored three times in the second half to erase G-MU’s big lead and force extra minutes. Kerisha Puerile scored in the first OT for the Raiders (2-2-1), and Jenn Mason tacked on the insurance goal. Most important, G-MU’s defense held Franklin scoreless the final 20 minutes. “We were missing a few key people for the game, and it made it difficult for a while,” said G-MU coach Tina Cole. “I didn’t really say anything (to the team) in overtime. It was the captains who stepped up and told the team we had 20 minutes, and to play our game.”
