Cyclones Open 42nd Season With Victories

NORWICH – The Norwich Cyclones A Team upended the New Hartford Spartans 22-0 at Alumni Field Sunday. Two lightning delays limited the game to two quarters with New Hartford forfeiting the second half.

Cameron Edwards got the Cyclones on the board at the 6:50 mark of the first quarter with a 13-yard TD run. Edwards also had a 21-yard touchdown three minutes later, with Cole Rifanburg adding two, two-point extra-point kicks. Matt Parrella recovered an onside Cycloned kickoff after the first Cyclone score.

Edwards worked for 49 yards on six carries, with Carlos Ithier adding 39 yards of offense, and Cole Rifanburg adding 32 yards on only four carries.

Rifanburg added an eight-yard TD reception from Jordan Vinal in the second.
