Saturday morning Oxford Farmers Market is full of surprises

OXFORD – Don’t miss out on the wonderful opportunity to buy fresh veggies and fruit (like plump blueberries and currants), eggs from free-range chickens, preserves in jars with pretty fabric toppers, fresh cut flowers, herbs, and more at the Farmers Market in LaFayette Park. Each Saturday morning, from 9 a.m. to noon, now through the beginning of September (weather permitting), farmers, bakers, and other merchants will be set up for business in the Park. There’s even a surprise once in awhile!

Farmers’ markets provide a place for local growers to sell their products directly to the public. The consumers get fresh fruits and vegetables, support local agriculture, and the farmer gets a better than wholesale, price for their products. For discerning shoppers, and to support your local farmers, come to Oxford’s own Farmers’ Market, right in LaFayette Park. Local entrepreneurs such as Kim Marshman of The Barnyard, Bill Brower of Shadeyside Farm, Frank and Nancy Lananna of Mother Nature’s Fresh Produce Stand, the Kevin Meek Farm, and Mina Takahashi and Marco Breuer of Holler Farm, set up stands selling fresh produce and hand crafted wares. It’s well worth a visit to meet the farmers and see what’s the best, freshest, and most unique!
