GREENE – Since its inception in 2006, the Mary Jane Prindle Golf Tournament has raised approximately $33,000 for Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County. This year, organizers of the annual tournament decided a cross-county move was in order, as the Genegantslet Golf Club prepares to host the June 24th event for the first time.

Last year, nearly 20 teams participated in the tournament, which follows a captain and crew format. As in the past, the event will feature a skins game, putting contest, longest drive and closest to the pin challenges, and several hole-in-one contests, one of which includes a $7,500 cash prize.

Registration for the tourney is $300 per team or $75 per individual, and includes 18 holes of golf – with cart – and a picnic dinner. Non-golfers are welcome to attend the picnic dinner, as well, for a $20 fee.

Held in honor of Mary Jane Prindle, who passed away in October of 2005, the tournament and fundraiser is a way for the well known dental hygienist’s family to give back to Hospice, according to Mary Jane’s husband and event organizer Walt Prindle.
