BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford dealt Delhi its second straight 1-0 shutout loss in the Midstate Athletic Conference’s fifth- through eight-place team tournament.

The Bobcats scored their lone run in the bottom of the first. Danny Gormley legged out an infield hit, and two batters later, Billy Holden laced an RBI triple.

B-G pitcher Paul Parsons and the Bobcats’ defense stifled two big Delhi scoring threats. In the fourth, Delhi put runners on first and second. With two outs, B-G first baseman Eric Oefelein snagged a hard grounder down the first base line, and got back to first for the final out.

In the seventh, Delhi’s Anthony Salerno hit a one-out double to put runners on second and third. Parsons then induced a groundout to third and a short bouncer in front of the plate that catcher Gordie Shields fielded and threw to Oefelein for the final out. “You would love to see more runs produced, but both teams defended well, and each pitcher threw it well,” said B-G coach Tim Mattingly.

Parsons finished with seven strikeouts and just two walks. The Bobcats play the winner of Unadilla Valley and Greene on Wednesday.
