Unatego 3, Unadilla Valley 2

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley probably wishes it saved some of the 22 runs it scored Tuesday for Wednesday’s game against Unatego.

The Storm had a two-run single from Travis Conklin in the third inning to score Brandon Miles and Justin Hofer cutting the Unatego lead to one run.

The Spartans had three unearned runs, the first on a triple and throwing error scoring Dan Shelton in the second. Codie Nichols and Tyler Butler scored after a pair of UV errors in the third.

“It was definitely a pitchers’ game,” said UV coach Tom Locke. “In close games like these, it usually comes down to errors and who makes less. Unatego just made less mistakes.”

Shelton and Josh Lambrecht had two hits apiece for the Spartans.

WESTMORELAND – Sherburne-Earlville improved over its first outing against Westmoreland, but had trouble mustering much offense in Wednesday’s defeat.

The Marauders committed three errors, but the three contributed to six unearned runs. “Unfortunately the errors we did make happened when they had runners in scoring position,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks. “After the previous two games, we were hoping to survive. We played much better tonight.”
