GREENE – Greene’s Matt Jones won a pitcher’s duel over Afton’s Cameron Oswald tossing a two-hit shutout Tuesday afternoon.

Jones had 15 strikeouts and four walks, and his team’s lone run came in the first inning. Alex Leone reached on an infield error and advanced to second on the play. A groundout moved Leone to third, and he came in on a passed ball.

Afton threatened a couple of times in the game with two baserunners reaching third base, said coach Ron Rapp. “We did try to generate runs and got guys into scoring position,” Rapp said. “But we couldn’t come up with that key hit.”

BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford capitalized on one pitching mistake Tuesday afternoon, and avenged an early-season loss to the Storm.

The Bobcats, already nursing a 1-0 lead, upped the lead to 4-0 in the fifth. With two runners on base and one out, Paul Parsons took a 2-0 pitch over the right-field fence for a three-run homer.
