Norwich tennis improves to 3-0

Boys’ Tennis

Norwich 5, Windsor 2

NORWICH – Norwich won a pair of third-set super tiebreakers to complete a sweep at singles, and with Friday’s third straight win, matched the victory total of last season.

Eli Craig, playing first singles, avenged a loss to Windsor’s Matt Jennings from a season ago winning in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 10-7, and Craig’s younger brother Matt topped Ryan Mirch in a tiebreaker, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.

At second and third singles, Zan Stewart and Colin Stewart won easily in straight sets, and first doubles tandem, Roman Cwynar and Sal Cole captured a 7-6, 6-1 win for the Tornado (3-0). “It’s pretty impressive to see the way these guys are developing,” said Norwich coach John Stewart. “They’re playing some really good tennis right now, and if people come down to watch them, I think they will be blown away by the quality of play.”
