Owner wants new chapter for downtown book store

NORWICH – Established in July of 1982, the First Edition Book Store has been a favorite stop for downtown shoppers, and for twenty-plus years – first as an employee and later as its owner – lifelong Norwich resident Lisa Mody has dedicated herself to its success.

Recently, however, Mody said she’s decides it’s time to move on and pursue a different path. She’s hoping to find a buyer for the shop who’s willing to keep the business intact for future generations to enjoy.

“It’s taken me a few years to make this decision and it’s been tough. I’ve given this very important downtown business my attention and devotion for many years,” said Mody. “Once both of my children had begun school, I needed to see if I could return to giving the store my full attention and, though I know what needs to be done for the future growth of First Edition, I’ve decided at this stage of my life to change my focus.”

The most difficult part of letting the store go, Mody said, will be saying goodbye to the customers who have made the past two decades such an unforgettable experience.
