NORWICH – A Facebook fan page called “Save Rogers Conservation Center” has grown to about 4,500 members since it was created Nov. 18.
The page features hundreds of remarks from citizens expressing anger over the center’s scheduled closing and sharing their own experiences.
“Everyday citizens have taken it upon themselves to create an informative hub to disperse e-mail addresses, addresses, phone numbers and get the information out to the world of the closing of the Rogers Center in less than 48 hours via Facebook,” said one of the site’s administrators, Paula Howard.
Howard said she and Bob Simmons are the administrators in charge of monitoring the site and often find themselves responding to inquiries from media outlets and the community.
“This has traveled beyond New York into the 50 states and 18 different countries. These are the people saving the Rogers Center with their writing, typing and calling campaign.” she said via e-mail Friday morning.
