Hey, gang! The countdown has begun. The DVD Patrol kicks off the month of November on our way to five glorious years of writing for The Evening Sun. It seems like only yesterday the Patrol and yours truly, the Toddster, was just getting started with the Great Metropolitan Newspaper in your hot little hand. We’ve got business to take care of. More reminiscing down the road. Time to take a look!

New on DVD

Toy Story 3 - Moving to a new place is never easy. The gang is back for another romp as we look in on our pals from Toy Story. As we join the crew, little Andy has grown up a bit and has left for college. Now he has to decide what to do with his old pals Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), and the rest of the group. Andy decides to give them to a daycare center, which doesn’t sit well with our heroes. If you thought one kid was too much, how about a whole lot of kids? Buzz and Woody decide enough is enough and they’re planning a breakout. Can they escape? Toy Story 1 and 2 are now available on DVD. Another Disney cartoon coming to theaters is “Tangled” taking an old fairy tale and expanding just a bit. Tangled hits theaters Nov. 24.

Story Continues Below Adverts

Alien - Let’s stick with the visiting theme as an old classic returns with a new twist. Sigourney Weaver stars as Ellen Ripley. Working as part of a mining crew, Ripley and the crew of the Nostromo are on their way when they are woken up from their sleep by a distress signal. As they take on a mysterious passenger, the crew of the ship find out that there is another passenger that has a taste for murder as it stalks the crew one by one. Will Ripley and the rest of the crew be able to take down the alien in their midst before it’s too late? Part of a brand new DVD collection also available on Blu-Ray, it also includes “Aliens,” “Aliens 3” and Alien Resurrection.

Also on DVD

Sex and the City 2 -  There was a time before life changed for everybody. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) knew this very well. Her life has changed a lot since she met the man of her dreams, “Big” (Chris Noth). Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) have tied the knot too and things are a lot different when it was just the four of them with their friend Samantha (Kim Cattrall). Samantha decides she needs a change of scenery so she asks her old friends if they would like to take a vacation and have a taste of what things were like before marriage came along. What will happen next for the galpals? My sources tell me that a third installment of “Sex and the City” is already in the works with the whole cast ready for another one. Stay tuned!

Back to the Future - It looks like Deja Vu is the norm for this week. Marty Mcfly (Michael J Fox) was just trying to get his band going and helped his pal Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) from time to time. Doc has thought of himself as an inventor but didn’t really invent a lot of stuff that worked very well. Until now. Marty is called on by Doc to help him with his latest invention. A time machine made out of a Delorean which is an old and rare very fast car. When they get together, Marty is shocked to learn that Doc has actually invented something that works. In the process, terrorists find them. Doc gets shot and Marty jumps in the Delorean to get away from them. Marty gets away but is sent back to the year 1955. It might be a one way trip because now the only way to get back to 1985 is to find Doc. Marty also runs into his mother and father (Lea Thompson and Crispin Glover) and may have doomed his future by messing up how they met. Is Marty going to be able to get them together and get back to 1985? A brand new collection has just been released with Blu-Ray and it also includes Back to the Future 2 and 3 now in stores.

Generator Rex - Cartoon Spotlight is here with a brand new cartoon that is high on the Toddster’s list. Some time ago, a disaster infected the Earth with nanites (or microscopic robots). The nanites cause people to turn into monsters and now a secret government agency called Providence comes in to stop them. They have a secret weapon and his name is Rex. Rex lost his memory and is infected too but he can use them to become part machine to fight the monsters known as Evos. In the first episode, Rex is trying to stop a group known only as the Pack who want him to join them to take over the Earth. Assisted by Six, Dr. Holiday, and his monkey pal Bobo, what will Rex decide to do? Volume 1 is now available on DVD in stores now with Volume 2 coming soon. Also, catch new episodes of Generator Rex on the Cartoon Network airing on Fridays at 8:30 p.m.

Time to wrap it up for another week. More new movies on the way for next time with some surprises in store for November. Can’t give them all away. Have a great week.
