Greene 9, Sidney 0

GREENE – Greene had a thoroughly convincing answer to its first division loss of the season routing Sidney Thursday.

Alex Driscoll scored the first of his two goals six minutes into the game, and Evan Moxley upped the lead to a pair of goals nine minutes later. “We needed to come back together as a team,” said Greene coach Rick Tallman. “We played a solid game against Maine-Endwell, but we had a disappointing outcome against Walton.”

The Trojans led 4-0 at halftime against the Warriors, and although Tallman shuffled his lineup, the goals kept coming at an even faster pace over the final 40 minutes. Mikki Brown also scored two goals. Cody Shapley, Nate Patrick, Corey Dietrich, and Brian Hebbard also found the Sidney net.

“We needed to rally as a team and get back to the possession style of dominance that we started the season with,” Tallman said. “We moved around guys and we’re still trying to figure out different combinations. The level of play didn’t drop off at all tonight.”

Greene plays at Unatego Tuesday and hosts Windsor Wednesday in the consolation game of Greene’s tournament.
