UV drops first league game of season

Walton 3, Unadilla Valley 2

NEW BERLIN – Walton dealt Unadilla Valley its first Midstate Athletic Conference loss on Wednesday scoring the last two goals in a comeback victory.

After Molly McGuire tied the game for the Warriors, Hunter Browne scored the game-winning tally with just 4:48 remaining.

Unadilla Valley led 1-0 on Taylor Davis’ goal, and re-took the lead early in the second half after Emily Hutchinson’s goal.

The Storm (5-1, 7-3) play at Greene on Friday.

Boys’ Soccer

Greene 7, Bainbridge-Guilford 0

GREENE ≠– Greene rebounded from its first loss of the season with a convincing home victory over Bainbridge-Guilford Wednesday.

Six different Greene players scored goals in the win. Evan Moxley, Mikki Brown, and Alex Driscoll all had at least one goal and one assist. Alex Leone, Cody Shapley, and Brian Hebbard also found the B-G net.

“Our goal was to produce more quality shots with possession, and it definitely worked tonight,” said Greene coach Rick Tallman. “Tonight, we played well and got a little bit of our chemistry back.”

Greene hosts Maine-Endwell tonight in the first round of its tournament

McGraw 2, Otselic Valley 1

MCGRAW – Nick Cowen and Jason Griffin scored goals for McGraw, who handed Otselic Valley just its second loss of the season on Wednesday.

“McGraw is very good and very sound,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “They pass it well and they’re real fast. It did us good to play a team like them.”

Reserve Alan Lewis scored off a pass from Shawn LaFlair with under five minutes to play to put the Vikings on the board.

Windsor 2, Norwich 0

WINDSOR – After a scoreless first half, Windsor broke up the scoreless game 16 minutes into the second half, and added an insurance tally with eight minutes remaining against the Tornado’s advancing lineup Wednesday.

Spencer Nagle’s pass on a cornerkick reached Hunter Farr, who netted the opening goal. Norwich’s lineup was pushed up late in the game in an attempt to score the tying goal, and Windsor capitalized getting behind the Tornado defense. Kevin Saar added the second goal heading in Noah Jones’ pass.
