Scouts to honor Forsythe at annual dinner May 13

NORWICH – Daryl R. Forsythe has been selected to receive the 25th annual Chenango Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award. The Dinner in his honor will be held on May 13 at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich.

Forsythe was born in Oneonta, and has been a life-long resident of New York State. He is a 1965 graduate of Utica College of Syracuse University, with a degree in Industrial Management. In 1979, he earned an MBA in General Management from Syracuse University.

After a brief tenure with Revere Copper and Brass in Rome, Forsythe joined Bendix Corporation in Sidney, where he held several positions in management. In 1984, he accepted a position with Simmonds Precision (later BF Goodrich) in Norwich as vice president of operations. He was named Vice President and general manager for the BF Goodrich Engine Electrical Systems Division in 1987. Under his leadership, the division employed more than 900 people in four locations including two plants in Norwich and one each in California and New Jersey. In 1995, he became President & Chief Executive Officer of NBT Bancorp a financial services holding company headquartered in Norwich, New York. The company operates NBT Bank, N.A., which includes 87 NBT Bank offices in Upstate New York and Northern Vermont and 38 Pennstar Bank offices in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
