NJ man airlifted after Tyner accident

SMITHVILLE – A New Jersey man was airlifted to Wilson Memorial Hospital Wednesday night after his van went off the road in Tyner near the Smithville/Oxford town line.

The driver, identified by the New York State Police as 74-year old Edward E. Tindall, was traveling south on North Tyner Road at approximately 8:30 p.m. when he apparently missed a sharp turn in the roadway immediately before a bridge over Bowman Creek near the Joscelyn Farm.

According to New York State Trooper J.M. Place, there were no skid marks at the scene.

“It appeared that he, for whatever reason, went straight off the road,” the officer reported. According to Place, who was present at the scene, Tindall did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.
