Greene Volleyball Team Avenges One Of Two Division Losses

GREENE – Greene won the final two games in a five-game battle, and avenged one of its two league losses, Tuesday against Sidney.

Devyn Staley had 14 kills, and Leah Kazalski proved a pinpoint setter with 24 assists. The Trojans (13-2) outlasted Sidney, 29-27, in the fourth game to set up a strong finish. “In that fourth game, we fought them point for point,” said Greene coach Michelle Schieve. “Our offense gained momentum as the games went on. We got some quality serving and kills when we needed them.”

Sidney: Lyndsay Gray, 6 aces, 9 kills, 3 blocks, 9 digs; Vanessa Strong, 16 assists.

Greene: Marissa Pierce, 4 aces; Devyn Staley, 14 kills, 4 blocks; Leah Kazalski, 24 assists; Tara Hickey, 4 digs.

JV: Sidney won, 2-0.

Unadilla Valley 3, Delhi 1

NEW BERLIN – After four back-and-fourth games, Unadilla Valley dominated the decisive fifth game led by the dominant serving of Jackie Goda and Amanda Geier to defeat Delhi Tuesday.

Goda had 11 service points in the last game and Geier eight. Geier led the Storm with nine aces and Goda had eight.

Torrie French and Amanda Tumilowicz shared UV’s team-high with six kills apiece.

UV hosts Greene on Friday.
