MOHAWK– Christy Traglia brought host Mohawk back from a small deficit in the fourth hitting a tying three-pointer, then added six more points to secure her team’s non-league win over Sherburne-Earlville Thursday.

Kristi Vibbard canned the last of her five three-pointers drawing the Marauders (0-1) to within two points with 20 seconds left. Shelbie Dye stole the ensuing inbounds pass, and fed the ball to Kristi Irwin for the game-tying shot. Irwin’s 12-footer was off the mark, and time ran out in a loose-ball scramble.

“We knew Traglia was their go-to player, and they were a fast team,” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan. “We were in foul trouble in the last quarter and they were shooting free throws in the bonus the last six minutes. That didn’t help.”

Vibbard scored a team-high 15 points to lead S-E, and Kristi Irwin added nine. “I thought we could have gotten the ball inside more,” Mulligan said. “We didn’t do a good job with that, and when we did, we missed some easy shots.”
