Public Health Warns Of Rabies Dangers

NORWICH – Rabies activity has been reported in the Norwich area. Since September 1, two skunks and one raccoon in the Northwest corner of the city haave been confirmed to be positive for Rabies.

To protect yourself, your family and your pets, please take the following precautions:

• If you see an animal acting stangely, contact the Norwich City Police Department at 334-1212 or Chenango County Environmental Health at 337-1673.

• Vaccinate your pets for rabies! Domestic animals should be up-to-date on rabies vaccinations & dogs should be wearing current license tage on their collar. For information on rabies vaccination for your pets, please call your local veterinarian or Chenango County Environmental Health at 337-1673.
