Bainbridge

Members from Bainbridge Post 806 will be interviewed by 5th grade students at Greenlawn  Elementary School on Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Greene

Post 692’s Lloyd O. Jackson is going to visit various cemeteries to collect worn flags, and is conducting a Flag Retirement Ceremony at 11 a.m.

McDonough

There will  be  an indoor ceremony at  11 a.m. Wednesday. Guest speaker Assemblyman Cliff Crouch. A free luncheon follows at the American Legion Post 1478 on West Street.

 

Norwich

Warren E. Eaton Post 189 is participating in a parade starting around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the VFW in Norwich, ending at the park and followed by the Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. Refreshments to follow at the VFW on East Main Street.

Oxford

Fort Hill  Post 376 is having a parade at 10:15 in the town, followed by an open house at the Post at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

 

Sherburne

Sherburne American Legion Post 876 will be meeting at the monument downtown on at 11 Wednesday for the regular service. A luncheon will follow at the Legion Home for veterans and families.

 The Sherburne Legion will also be attending Smyrna’s dedication of their new flag. The service will be at 7 p.m. at the Civil War Monument.

Smyrna

Three veterans monuments and an American flag will be lit to honor the veterans of Smyrna in a special ceremony at 7 p.m., Wednesday in the village center. Town Councilman Wayne Simmons initiated a fundraising project in the community that afforded the electricity and a new, public address/sound system. Simmons said the portable system will be shared by the village, the town, the fire department and the Smyrna Citizen’s Band. On hand for the official ceremony will be the Sherburne American Legion, Sherburne-Earlville Clarinet Ensemble and the Boy Scouts Pack 66. Refreshments will be served following the program.

South New Berlin

Harold McIntyre Post 1289 and New Berlin’s Frank H. Arnold Post 348 have both been invited to attend a Veterans Day celebration at the Unadilla Valley School on the 10th at 9 a.m., and to speak with the students about being a veteran. 

 

Otselic

The American Legion Post in South Otselic hosted a dinner for veterans and their families on Sunday.
