SMTS Spins Tales Of Terror
Published: October 30th, 2009

SHERBURNE – Sherburne Music-Theater Society will spin four of the ghostly tales of horror masters Edgar Allan Poe and H. P. Lovecraft in its performance of Tales to Chill the Soul on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Sherburne Public Library. The reading will feature “The Black Cat” by Edgar Allen Poe and “The Hound,” “From Beyond” and “The Last Statement of Randolph Carter” by H. P. Lovecraft as narrated by cast members Michael Moren, Keven Simmons, Mike Tefft, and Rick Thormahlen. Admission to this reading is free, but donations will be accepted. Refreshments will be served.

The evening will celebrate the grand tradition of telling ghost stories and awakening the imagination of the listener to the things that go bump in the night. Something about imagining the scene in the mind can be for more disturbing than seeing it on a screen. The works of Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft are very good at setting the macabre mood and letting the imagination fill in the scares.
