Oxford makes it back-to-back wins in victory over UV

Oxford 4, Unadilla Valley 1

OXFORD – Oxford made it back-to-back wins on Wednesday afternoon topping Unadilla Valley in Midstate Athletic Conference play.

Kyle Ferrington scored the first of his two goals 10 minutes into the game, and Taylor Bates made it 2-0 at halftime.

Oxford finished with 26 shots on goal, and dominated most of the play. “We’re putting up a decent number of goals, but it’s taking a lot of shots to do it,” said Oxford coach Matt Dorman. “I was impressed with the way we moved the ball. We were hitting open spaces and making good runs.”

Justin Schray had a goal and an assist for Oxford, who built a 4-0 lead before the Storm’s Dan Keefe connected on a direct kick to break up the shutout.

Oxford plays at Delhi Friday.

BROOKFIELD – Otselic Valley traded leads with Brookfield before prevailing in overtime Wednesday.

Brent Rasmussen tallied 7:28 into the first overtime period getting a pass from D.J. Worden. “This was one of the best games we’ve had in a while,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “It was a great game, and both teams deserve a lot of credit.”
