NORWICH – The 2009 Lucy Funke Scholarship Awards for Excellence in the Arts were presented Wednesday evening at the Chenango County Council of the Arts in Norwich. The awards, given to local seniors pursuing higher education in an arts-related field, are named for the former longtime director of the Arts Council. From left, with Funke in the center, are this year’s winners: Emily Dunckle of Greene, Nathan Sloan of Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton, Cassaundra Conant of Norwich, Sarah Cox of Bainbridge-Guilford, David Allen of Oxford and Natalie DeRochie of Otselic Valley. Missing were Cali Gaydorus of Afton and Andrew Symonds of Sherburne-Earlville.
