Guilford Historical Society begins  documenting farms

GUILFORD – The Guilford Historical Society has undertaken a new project. Although the project is closely related to the house project begun a few years ago, it has now expanded to early farming photos. As farm after farm is disappearing along with the majestic barns of long ago, we felt it important to collect photos of those farms. Not only are we asking for photos of farming and farms, barns etc. of Guilford, we will also be asking for permission to photograph any farms still in existence. Farming was and still is holding by its thumbnails as the number one industry of our township, county and state. How long that rating endures is not known, but recording the history of this industry is important to understand all the aspects of who we are and where we came from and our townships development and now sadly the decline.
