Oversight Changes Lead To Shakeup At CIT

NORWICH – Five positions were recently eliminated at the Valley Ridge Center For Intensive Treatment, a fall out from consolidating the facility under the umbrella of Broome Developmental Disabilities Services Organization in Binghamton.

The consolidation was approved in April as part of the New York State 2009-2010 budget. Members of the Valley Ridge Board of Visitors, comprised of members of the community charged with overseeing operations at the facility, met last week to receive an update on the staffing changes.

New Valley Ridge CIT Director Carl Letson said the treatment facility “will continue to function as it is now, in the same vein.” However, he could not confirm whether the Chenango County-based Board of Visitors would be absorbed within the Broome DDSO Board of Visitors, or left to monitor the Norwich facility as is currently done on a quarterly basis.

“We look forward to working with them we will continue to work with them and incorporate them into overall operations of DDSO and CIT,” Levin said.
