Youth Bureau Announces Summer Programs

NORWICH – The City of Norwich Youth Bureau has announced some of the programs it will be holding this summer.

All of the programs are open to youth in the City of Norwich, Towns of Norwich, North Norwich, Preston, Plymouth and Pharsalia free of charge. Youth from other areas can register for the programs by paying a fee. Registration for most programs will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3 at the Youth Bureau Office.

• Swimming Lessons - Open to youth ages 5 to 20, the swimming lessons program will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Norwich High School Pool. Infant swim instruction is also available starting at age 6 months, but parents must accompany the infant in the water for the 30 minute class, which begins daily at 9:30 a.m. The swimming lessons program will include two sessions. The first session will run from Monday, June 29 through Friday, July 17. The second session will run from Monday, July 20 through Friday, Aug. 7.

• Competitive Swim Team - Open to youth 8 years and up, practices will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the High School Pool. The program will run from June 29 through Aug. 7. A schedule of swim meet times has not yet been announced.
