NORWICH – Norwich swept the team championships at the 4th REK Friends Forever Invitational Friday, and 15 meet records were established along the way.

Oxford’s standout sophomores, Emily and Katie Woodford, broke a meet record in every running event they participated in shattering marks in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, while provided two legs out of the record-breaking 400- and 1,600-meter relays. The twin sisters were consequently named co-top female performers.

Norwich senior Steven Spittler set a new meet record in the 400-meter dash (54.8), and anchored two winning Norwich relays (1,600 and 3,200) to earn top individual male performer.

“What’s nice about this meet is that our kids seem to get pumped up and run our best times,” said Norwich co-head coach Paul Sims. “It was good competition for us, and we were able to win the team titles convincingly.”

No less than 10 of 17 meet records were broken on the girls’ side. Norwich’s Sarah Bonnell began with a meet-record 13.2 seconds in the 100-meter dash.

Emily Woodford knocked off the 200-meter mark in 26.5, while sister Katie Woodford blistered the field in the 400-meter dash with one of the best times in Section IV this year (58.6).
