AFTON – Afton/B-G/H/S defeated Norwich for the first time in the program’s long history, that despite winning just two of 11 events.

“We thought it would be a close meet,” said Makos coach Kevin Diefenbacher, who is a Norwich High School graduate and former assistant coach at NHS. “Norwich has a good front line, but we have depth. There were a lot of seconds and thirds, and we were right behind their top times.”

The turning point was a Makos one-two-three sweep in the 100-yard breaststroke that turned a two-point Norwich lead into an eight-point lead for the host team entering the final event.
