AFTON – A four-day search for a missing Afton woman ended with her arrest for prostitution.

New York State Troopers discovered 23-year-old Yvonne M. Koepke in the Town of Burlington in Otsego County Wednesday after conducting a four-day search for the Afton woman, who was reported missing Saturday by her concerned mother.

Koepke was charged with misdemeanor prostitution in the Town of Afton and third degree falsely reporting an incident in the Town of Burlington.

New York State Police Investigator Jamie Bell said Koepke told police “multiple stories” including two separate stories about a false abduction and admitted her disappearance was related to a “sexual engagement.”

Bell had no explanation for Koepke’s conduct, saying, “She told her roommate she was running to the store and she just never came back. After that the story changes depending at which point we (police) talked to her. She had no reason to explain her sudden disappearance and I’m not sure if we’ll ever really get the truth,” said Bell.

Bell said police were initially concerned because Koepke left her cell phone at home, failed to report to work and did not notify even close family members or friends.
