South New Berlin convenient store robbed at gunpoint

SOUTH NEW BERLIN – New York State Police troopers are looking for a masked gunman who entered the South New Berlin Quickway and demanded money from the cashier Wednesday night.

The employee, who was working alone at about 7:30 p.m. at the time of the robbery, said he was stocking the shelves in the cooler when he saw a customer come in.

“I asked him, ‘How can I help you?’ He had his arms inside his jacket holding something and then he pulled out a rifle and said ‘Gimme all your, money man,’” said the teenaged clerk, who asked not to be identified.

“He had a gun. It was in his coat and it was pointed right at me,” he said.

Troopers released still photos of surveillance footage taken inside the gas station located at the intersection of state Routes 8 and 23 in South New Berlin.

Police said they are looking for a white male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, wearing a black ski mask with a grey hooded sweatshirt underneath a white-and-black checkered flannel jacket.
