Marauders win third straight

Sherburne-Earlville 48, Unadilla Valley 32

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville won its third straight game on Saturday, and captured the S-E Tournament consolation game over UV for the second time in as many years.

A breakaway third quarter, one in which the Marauders outscored the Storm 21-5, put the game out of reach. “We came out with a lot of intensity and pressure,” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan of the third stanza. “We talked about playing better offensively, and we were able to do that.”

Bridget Irwin and Stacey Palmer had five points apiece in the third quarter, and six different S-E players put points on the board during the quarter. Megan Record led a balanced scoring effort with 10 points, Irwin added nine, and Caitlynn Adams racked up seven steals and eight rebounds. Irwin was named an all-tournament selection, as was UV’s Hannah Johnson, who poured in a game-high 19 points.
