S-E falls in opening game

Boys’ Basketball

Ilion 63, S-E 54

SHERBURNE – Ilion scored the final six points of the first half to grab the lead by two, and extended the margin to as many as 15 in the second half in a win over Sherburne-Earlville Tuesday.

Joseph Patrei led the Golden Bombers with 23 points, and Matthew Soullas scored 16 before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

“They hurt us on the boards, and we turned the ball over way too many times in the third quarter,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “A lot of their points had to do with rebounding, and they shot it well in the second half.”
