Police Investigate Suspicious Death In Norwich

NORWICH – The New York State Police are investigating a suspicious death reported Thursday afternoon at a residence in the Town of Norwich.

“Because of the manner of the body and the circumstances of the incident, we believe this death to be suspicious,” said Lt. James E. Barnes.

The body of William E. Lee, 61, was discovered at his Tanner Hill home and called into the 911 dispatch center at about 1:51 p.m. at 5220 on State Rt. 23 in the Town of Norwich.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers responded to the scene and roped off the area. Deputies are aiding the State Police in their investigation.

The Troop C Forensic Identification Unit was treating the scene as a possible homicide.
