Blarney Stone Pub goes to the dogs for SPCA fundraiser

NORWICH – The Board of Directors of the Chenango County SPCA have gone all out. In less than a week, they have organized a fundraiser for the non-profit complete with live music, food, beverages and T-shirts which are sure to become collectors’ items.

The First Annual Woofstock, billed as “one day of representin’ pooches, cool cats and music,” will take place at the Blarney Stone Pub this Sunday.

From 3 to 7 p.m., guests can enjoy the music and assorted “munchies” provided by the SPCA’s board of directors. All for just a good will donation at the door. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Chenango County SPCA.

“It takes kind-hearted people to keep [the SPCA] going,” said Courtney Sullivan, a 4-year member of the SPCA board and the event’s organizer.

The event is designed to not only raise money for the non-profit, but also to help educate the community on what the organization is all about, said Sullivan.

Sullivan, who owns and operates the Doggie Dude Ranch in Preston, came up with the idea and name for the event. “I wanted to bring the community together to help understand what the SPCA is all about,” she said.
