Valley Heights Girls Win By Shutout

NORWICH - Tuesday, Valley Heights Christian Academy Crusaders hosted Messiah Academy at Welier Park. In girls' game, the Crusaders shut out Messiah 4-0 and the boys won a scoring fest, 8-6.

First-period scoring for the girls started at 25:36 when Becky Lawton netted a goal assisted by Shelby Richards. Sarah Miedema would then score twice, first at 14:32 assisted by Richards, and 6:42 assisted by Kyra Lowie. Erica Carr had the lone second-half goal, assisted by Monica Ingraham.

The boys' game had lots of scoring by both teams in each half. Luke Halberg opened the scoring at 24:07, and added four more goals. Ryan Rose tallied at 12:43, and VHCA led 6-2 at the break.

Crusaders second-period goals came from Brennen Lawton at 22:44 and Rose at 10:33.

Next on the schedule is an away games at Finger Lakes Thursday, Sept. 25. The girls play at 3 p.m. and the boys at 4:30 pm.
