Norwich rallies to hand Greene its first loss

Otsenango Pony League Baseball

NORWICH – Mackey Hotaling came on in relief in the first inning working out of a bases-loaded jam, and allowed just two runs – one earned – in leading Norwich I to a 5-4 come-from-behind win over previously unbeaten Greene Monday.

Hotaling struck out 11 and received offensive support from Lucas Follett. Follett had two hits included a two-run single in the fourth. Grant Brightman followed with an RBI single to score Follett, and Hotaling drove in the eventual winning run with a triple in the bottom of the sixth.

Greene led early as Nate Patrick and Scott Gorton scored in the first inning. Gorton had an RBI double in the third, and Nic Puglisi drove in Gorton with a double in the seventh to slice Norwich’s lead to one run. Teddy Jerome snagged a sinking liner in right field to end the contest.

Patrick also had a double for Greene (5-1).
